EPAT: Environmental Paper Assessment Tool
The Environmental Paper Assessment Tool (EPAT) is an innovative platform for buyers and sellers of paper products to share supplychain data and facilitate discussions on sustainable paper procurement. By providing a consistent framework and metrics, EPAT creates the opportunity for informed discussion about the environmental attributes and trade-offs involved in paper purchasing decisions. EPAT was developed by the sustainability nonprofit GreenBlue in collaboration with leading paper buyers and suppliers.
EPAT
In March 2016, GreenBlue launched EPAT 3.0. The Environmental Paper Assessment Tool (EPAT) enables buyers and sellers of paper products to work together to discuss the sustainability of paper products.
EPAT makes it easy to find mills in your supply chain and use credible data to answer the most important sustainability questions such as:
- Energy use
- Water withdrawal
- Source
- Solid waste
- and more
Paper procurement professionals can use the EPAT platform to learn more about the key considerations to make when evaluating environmental performance of paper products including: forest certification, recycled content, energy and water use, and more!
Suppliers can reach new buyers by showcasing their mill’s environmental performance to clients interested in sourcing sustainable fiber products. The tool can also be used to conduct internal benchmarking.
